Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a lifesaving technique that can be performed without any equipment. Here's a simple guide:
1. Assess the Situation: Check if the person is responsive by tapping their shoulder and asking if they are okay. If there is no response, call for help immediately.
2. Open the Airway: Tilt the person's head back slightly and lift their chin to open the airway.
3. Check for Breathing: Look, listen, and feel for signs of breathing for about 5-10 seconds. If the person is not breathing normally, begin CPR.
4. Perform Chest Compressions: Place the heel of one hand on the center of the person's chest (between the nipples) and place the other hand on top. Push down firmly and quickly, about 2 inches deep. Perform 30 compressions at a rate of 100-120 per minute.
5. Give Rescue Breaths: Pinch the person's nose and cover their mouth with yours. Give two rescue breaths, each lasting about one second, and watch for the chest to rise.
6. Continue CPR: Alternate between chest compressions and rescue breaths in cycles of 30:2 until help arrives or the person shows signs of life.
Remember, performing CPR can greatly increase the chances of survival in a cardiac emergency.
